Brad specializes in federal and state legislative, regulatory and public policy advocacy with a special emphasis on financial services, tax, telecommunications, commerce, agriculture and trade related issues. Since the mid 1990’s he has represented a diverse group of clients, including corporate entities, trade associations and municipalities, before U.S. Congress, the Executive Branch, federal agencies, and state governments.
Brad's experience on Capitol Hill included four years as legislative assistant to former U.S. Senator Jesse Helms (R-NC). After his departure from Capitol Hill in 1996, Brad served in senior management positions for a Fortune 100 corporation and two large trade associations. Brad worked for UST Public Affairs, Inc. from 1996-2000, as Director of Government Affairs, representing the smokeless tobacco and wine corporation on a number of legislative matters.
In 2000, Brad joined the American Council of Life Insurers (ACLI) as Director of Federal Relations and Political Affairs, representing its six hundred member companies on financial services and political issues at the federal level. In 2002, Brad joined United States Telecom Association as Vice President of Government Affairs where he managed their federal lobbying team on various telecommunications issues before the Congress, the FCC and other federal agencies.
For the last 20 plus years, Brad has represented a diverse group of clients in federal and state lobbying campaigns. He has built an extensive rolodex of contacts with decision-makers in the Congress, the Trump Administration, federal agencies and at the state level. Over the last eight years, Brad has worked on a number of issues in North Carolina with a North Carolina based state lobbying firm. As part of this arrangement, Brad has provided lobbying services and counsel for clients at the federal level while other members of the firm provide state and local lobbying services in North Carolina.
In addition to his lobbying efforts, Brad has built up a significant political portfolio over the last two decades. He has served as a major fundraiser for a number of Republican Senate and House candidates and has worked closely with the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC). This work has helped to build relationships which have bolstered Brad’s lobbying efforts on behalf of clients at the federal level and allowed him significant access to work with GOP leadership when needed. These efforts have helped Brad built a long list of legislative and regulatory victories on behalf of his clients.
